  • Comply with laws, regulations, subpoenas, court orders, licensing obligations, utility-program rules, insurance requirements, and enforceable contracts.
  • Create aggregated or de-identified information that is not reasonably linked to an identifiable person and use it for lawful business purposes.

We do not use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

6. SMS and Text Messaging Privacy Notice

Program description

Hometrust may send customer-care and/or promotional text messages to individuals who provide a mobile number and separately opt in. Customer-care messages may include responses to support requests, appointment coordination, arrival notices, ticket or project updates, requested follow-up, and other communications related to an existing inquiry or service. Promotional messages may include special offers, discounts, events, educational content, promotions, and service announcements.

Separate and optional consent

Where we offer both customer-care and promotional messaging, the consent choices are presented separately. Agreeing to customer-care texts does not enroll you in promotional texts. Promotional text consent is voluntary and is not a condition of purchasing goods or services. You may receive customer-care communications that are necessary to complete a transaction or respond to your request even if you do not consent to promotional texts, to the extent permitted by law.

Information used for messaging

We may maintain your mobile number, the date, time, source, and scope of your consent, message content and delivery information, and opt-out or help requests. We use this information to operate the messaging program, respond to you, document consent, honor communication preferences, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

No third-party marketing of mobile data

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except service providers, aggregators, carriers, and platform providers that support delivery and operation of the text-messaging service. Those providers may use the information only to provide or support the messaging service and related compliance functions.

Opting out and getting help

You may revoke text-message consent at any time by replying STOP to the number that sent the message or by contacting us at 301-957-6532 or info@hometrustremodeling.com. We may send one confirmation message after an opt-out request. To re-enroll, use the original opt-in method or otherwise provide new consent. Reply HELP for help or contact us directly.

Frequency, charges, and delivery

Message frequency varies based on your interactions and the program you selected. Message and data rates may apply. Your wireless carrier is not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to network availability and is not guaranteed.

Do not send payment-card details, utility passwords, Social Security numbers, medical information, or other highly sensitive information by text message.

7. Email, Telephone, and Other Communications

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us. You may ask us not to make promotional calls by telling us during a call or contacting us. Even after you opt out of marketing, we may send non-promotional communications about an inquiry, appointment, contract, project, payment, warranty, safety issue, legal notice, or other transaction.

Where we record a telephone call, video meeting, energy audit, or other conversation, we will provide notice and obtain consent required by applicable law. You may ask whether a conversation is being recorded. Marketing or public use of an identifiable recording, photograph, or video requires separate permission unless otherwise permitted by law.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, server logs, and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, keep forms and chat features working, protect against fraud, understand website traffic, measure communications, and improve content.

  • Necessary technologies support core functions, security, forms, chat, scheduling, and preference storage.
  • Analytics technologies help us understand how visitors use the website and whether content or campaigns are effective.
  • Advertising or social-media technologies, if enabled, may help measure or deliver our own advertising and may be governed by the provider’s privacy notice.

Most browsers allow you to delete or block cookies. Blocking some technologies may prevent parts of the website, chat widget, scheduling feature, or forms from functioning correctly. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal, but there is not a single industry standard for responding to it. Where applicable law requires us to recognize a valid opt-out preference signal for covered processing, we will do so.

9. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

  • Service providers. Vendors that provide customer relationship management, chat, email, text messaging, scheduling, website hosting, cloud storage, security, analytics, transcription, document preparation, payments, accounting, and similar services. These may include LeadConnector for chat, CRM, and messaging; Calendly for scheduling; and Square or another payment processor, where used.
  • Utilities and program administrators. BGE, Pepco, other utilities, program administrators, quality-assurance vendors, and authorized contractors when you request or participate in a utility-sponsored or rebate program.
  • Project personnel. Employees, subcontractors, inspectors, consultants, suppliers, and other parties that need the information to prepare an estimate, perform or verify work, deliver materials, or support a warranty.
  • Professional advisers and insurers. Attorneys, accountants, auditors, insurers, and other advisers that have a legitimate need for the information.
  • Government, legal, and safety disclosures. Courts, regulators, law enforcement, licensing authorities, utility-program authorities, or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, systems, or the public.
  • Business transactions. A prospective or actual buyer, lender, insurer, successor, or adviser in connection with a merger, sale, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • At your direction or with your consent. Other persons or organizations when you direct us to disclose information or separately authorize the disclosure.

We may disclose aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to you. We require service providers to handle personal information consistently with their role and applicable contractual and legal obligations.

10. No Sale of Personal Information; No Sale of Leads

Hometrust does not sell personal information for monetary compensation and does not operate as a data broker or lead seller. We do not disclose mobile numbers, text-message opt-in records, or consent to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.

We may use first-party analytics, communicate with people who have interacted with us, and advertise our own services. If our practices change in a way that applicable law treats as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, we will update this Policy and provide any required notice and opt-out method before engaging in the changed practice.

11. Utility and Home-Performance Programs

When you request an audit or project through a utility-sponsored program, we may collect and submit information needed to verify your account, model energy savings, prepare program reports, calculate incentives, process rebates, complete quality assurance, or comply with program rules. This information may include your utility account number, service address, energy-use information, property characteristics, diagnostic results, recommendations, project scope, invoices, and test-out results.

The utility, program administrator, financing provider, or other program participant may independently control information it receives and may provide a separate privacy notice. Their privacy practices are not controlled by this Policy.

12. Photographs, Video, Audio, and Marketing Content

During audits and projects, we may photograph or record property conditions, equipment, labels, measurements, test procedures, and completed work. We use this material for reports, estimates, project planning, quality assurance, training, warranty support, and dispute resolution.

We seek to avoid unnecessary capture of people, private papers, computer screens, or unrelated personal belongings. If material includes identifiable people, voices, addresses, or other identifying details, we will use it for public testimonials, social media, advertising, case studies, or educational content only with appropriate notice and separate permission, unless the use is otherwise permitted by law.

A website privacy policy is not a substitute for any consent required to make an audio or video recording. We will obtain recording consent in the manner required by applicable law.

13. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide services, maintain project and warranty records, administer utility programs, document consent and opt-outs, comply with tax and accounting rules, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal or insurance requirements.

  • Inquiry, chat, and scheduling records are retained while an inquiry is active and for a reasonable follow-up period, unless a longer period is needed for consent records, suppression lists, security, or legal purposes.
  • Customer, audit, contract, project, rebate, and warranty records are retained for the life of the relationship and for applicable program, warranty, accounting, insurance, and legal periods afterward.
  • Payment records are retained for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and dispute purposes. Full card information is generally retained by the payment processor rather than Hometrust.
  • SMS and email consent, delivery, and opt-out records may be retained as long as needed to demonstrate compliance and continue honoring your communication choices.
  • Photos, videos, diagnostic images, and consented recordings are retained as part of the project record when reasonably necessary. Marketing material may be used until permission is withdrawn, subject to uses already made and other lawful retention needs.
  • Website logs and analytics information are retained for reasonable operational, security, and measurement periods.

When information is no longer needed, we may delete, destroy, aggregate, or de-identify it, subject to backup cycles and legal obligations.

14. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information in light of its nature, volume, and sensitivity. Measures may include access controls, authentication, secure service providers, device and account protections, employee or contractor confidentiality requirements, and procedures for responding to suspected incidents.

No website, transmission, storage system, or security measure is completely secure. Please use care when sending information electronically and notify us promptly if you believe your interaction with us or information you provided has been compromised. We will provide legally required notices of a data breach or security incident.

15. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • Confirm whether we process your personal information and request access to it.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Request deletion of personal information.
  • Receive a portable copy of certain personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling where those activities occur and applicable law provides the right.
  • Withdraw consent for processing based on consent, including promotional text-message consent.
  • Use an authorized agent where permitted by law.
  • Appeal a decision regarding a privacy request where applicable law provides an appeal right.
  • Exercise privacy rights without unlawful discrimination.

How to submit a request

Email info@hometrustremodeling.com with the subject “Privacy Request,” call 301-957-6532, or mail your request to 8345 Sperry Court, Laurel, Maryland 20723. Describe the right you want to exercise and provide enough information for us to locate the relevant records. Do not send a copy of government identification unless we specifically request it through an appropriate channel.

We may verify your identity by matching information you provide with information already associated with you. If an authorized agent submits a request, we may request proof of authority and, where permitted, direct verification from you. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. We may deny or limit a request where an exception applies, such as when information is needed to complete a transaction, honor a warranty, comply with law, protect security, or establish or defend legal claims.

Appeals

If we deny a request and applicable law gives you an appeal right, email info@hometrustremodeling.com with the subject “Privacy Appeal” and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. We will provide a written response within the period required by law.

16. Maryland Residents

Where the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act applies, Maryland residents may have rights to confirm processing, access data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain solely automated profiling. The Act also provides a process to appeal a denied request and permits certain authorized-agent opt-out requests.

Hometrust does not sell sensitive personal data or knowingly use personal data of minors for targeted advertising. We use the request and appeal methods in Section 15 for Maryland privacy requests. Where the Act applies, we generally respond to a verified request within 45 days, may extend once by up to 45 additional days with notice, and provide a written appeal response within 60 days.

17. Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13, and we do not knowingly enroll minors in promotional text messaging. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate authorization, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it, subject to legal obligations.

18. Third-Party Websites, Embedded Content, and Social Media

Our website may link to or embed content from third parties, such as scheduling services, payment services, utilities, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, review sites, or other resources. Those parties may collect information under their own privacy notices. A link or embedded feature does not mean that Hometrust controls the third party’s privacy or security practices.

Information you post publicly on a social network, review site, or public comment area may be visible to others. Use care before posting personal information publicly.

19. International Visitors

Hometrust is based in Maryland and directs its services primarily to the United States. If you access the website from another country, your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location. We do not represent that our services are directed to or available in every jurisdiction.

20. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our services, technology, legal requirements, or privacy practices. We will post the revised Policy and update the effective date.
