Frequently Asked Questions About Hometrust Remodeling
Common questions that are asked by our customers over the years.
What does your company do?
We are not a traditional home improvement company. We assess, test and provide solutions based on building science principles as well as your needs. If your upstairs room is very hot in the summer we can assess the reasons as to why and provide the necessary solutions to fix the problem which might include sealing ducts in the attic, adding insulation and replacing the clear glass window in the west facing wall.
Why should I pay $100 for an energy audit?
An energy audit should not be viewed as a sales gimmick. An energy audit should be looked at as a valuable service that will put you in the driver seat of your home's overall performance. One example is the energy audit performed for a BGE customer that lived in her home for twenty years only do discover that her ducts were not insulated in the attic and it costed her hundreds of dollars - each year!
Is an energy audit worth it?
An energy audit is gold - FOR YOU! We see situations in attics that HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, home inspectors and carpenters casually walk by - because they don't know. Would you leave a sharp object on your seat if every time you sat down it stuck you in the butt? Why leave your insulation in disrepair when it is sticking you in the wallet and costing you comfort?
Are you properly licensed in Maryland?
Yes! We are properly licensed, insured and bonded in the state of Maryland. We have over forty years of experience as a licensed Maryland contractor.
What if my project is small, do you have a minimum?
No project is too small for our company. We actually specialize in helping you solve the little problems that can cost you big if not resolved properly.
Is your company insured?
Yes! In the State of Maryland licensed contractors are required to maintain general liability insurance at all times in order to be operating within the law. We can furnish a copy of our insurance coverage upon request.
Can you help me make my home more comfortable?
Yes! If given the opportunity to perform a comprehensive home energy audit, then we are likely to find several contributing factors to your comfort issues. There is no other way to solve a comfort issue other than having a home energy audit.
How do you know about siding and windows but also about insulation?
Hometrust Remodeling has been years in the making! Our initial focus and energy was on exterior remodeling. We were intrigued by how all of the outside parts of a home are connected. In 2017 relationships became evident between the outside and the inside. Our curiosity led us to education and the Building Performance Institute (BPI).
